Eight Point Star Quilt
The Eight-Point Star quilt is an intricate star pattern that traditionally allowed a woman to showcase her needlework skills. Precision is extremely important in piecing stars for a neat finished product! A quilt is not only a cozy bedspread: it is also a piece of artwork. The artisans who design our quilts choose quality colorful fabrics to arrange into an eye-catching masterpiece. Choose from our selection of over two hundred handmade quilts for a quilt that best complements your style.
While the pieces of fabric are sewn together by machine to ensure tighter stitching, all the quilting is done by hand. 100% cotton fabrics compose the top and bottom of the quilt. The batting sandwiched between those two layers, however, is 100% polyester. This polyester batting guaranties both warmth and excellent washing results.
Yes, the quilts are indeed machine-washable! We recommend the following guidelines for best results:
Machine wash with cold water on gentle cycle.
Use mild detergent, such as liquid Cheer for colors (No bleach or bleach alternatives. No Woolite or fabric softener.) For the first washing, add 1/2 cup vinegar and 2 tablespoons of salt in addition to the detergent. This home remedy prevents bleed and helps to set the colors in your quilt.
Remove quilt as soon as washer stops to minimize wrinkles and color-bleeding.
Never put quilt into the dryer! Line dry on a breezy day.
Quilts can be dry-cleaned at your own risk, but we definitely recommend washing.
The term handmade is commonly used to describe crafts produced by an artisan rather than in a factory. Because it is not mass-produced, each handmade quilt is unique. However, not all the stitching in a handmade quilt is done by hand. Just as the woodcrafter uses mechanical tools to create his craftsmanship, our seamstresses use various tools to craft these quilts. The seamstress cuts her pieces with a rotary knife and sew them together on the sewing machine. The quilter works with merely thread, needle, and thimble to quilt hundreds of tiny stitches throughout the quilt. Handmade is a gift: it is the gift of time and talent to create an item uniquely for you.
