The Broken Star design is a large lone star placed inside a curved set of similar diamond-shaped blocks that encircle it and form half-stars. The star pattern is of the oldest and most familiar of all the traditional quilt patterns, but great precision is needed to make all the star points meet and lie flat! The quilt includes an amazing 310 yards of hand-quilting by an Amish or Mennonite woman.
The Broken Star quilt measures generous enough in length to provide for a pillow tuck. Four miniature stars adorn the pillow top. On a king bed, the quilt will hang down about 17 inches per side.

While the fabric pieces are sewn together by machine to make certain tighter sewing, all the quilting is done by hand. 100% cotton fabrics make up the top and bottom of the quilt. The batting sandwiched between those two layers, nonetheless, is 100% polyester. This polyester batting warranties both heat and superb washing results.

I love my purple Lone Star Quilt…it was a big investment for me! I bought a Twin size that was listed as fitting a Queen and it did (using my ruffle). Thank you for having accurate measurements and good photos AND updated notes on availability. I found one a couple of years ago on another site out in PA and I ordered it and my card was charged. Then, I was called to say it wasn’t available and would be 6 months if I wanted it made. Your emails were great and was surprised by the fast delivery. PS. My grandma made lots of quilts – log cabin, lone star and many others about 25+ years ago….your quality is on par with hers.
